The term Additive Manufacturing includes all toolless production processes, in which parts are build layer by layer. The technology encompasses a wide range of process variants. Within the different production processes metal alloys, plastics and ceramics can be used as default material. Due to the toolless build-up principle components of great complexity can be manufactured, which could not be produced with any other conventional subtractive or formative production processes.
